Woman's History Month
In March, we held a tea party for women in our
community. We all enjoyed tea and yummies with women we admired.
The majority of people brought in moms, but there were others
there as well, such as aunts, neighbors, teachers, coaches, and friends.
Each student
wrote a four-paragraph paper telling the assembly at the tea why
the woman they brought was special to them. Most of the speeches
brought tears to the guest's eyes, making this occasion quite
heart-felt.
The tea was lots of fun, and all the guests thought so too.
Many thanks were given from the
women, and all the people who attended left with a smile on their
face.
Quotes from students:
"We study Women's History Month to learn about things women
did and that women can make a difference. Men and women can do
the same things no matter how hard the job. I think things have
improved, but they can still get better. Women still don't get
paid as much, and don't always get the best jobs. I think we need
a woman president to really change things. She would lead the
country from a woman's perspective."
-Emily, age 11
"I have learned that women are obtaining more rights, They
are getting closer to being treated equally with men. It's not
perfect yet, but some day I hope that women will be treated as
equals."
-Matt, age 11
